Indie Pop

Indie Pop is a sub genre of Indie Rock that originated in the uk in the mid 1980s. The difference between indie rock and indie pop is that indie pop music contains lighter chords and is less depressing. The term Indie is short for Independent label. Most bands are on the major labels such as SONY and Warner Bros which are huge corporations. Smaller record labels work without sponsorship of these main distributors therefore they are independent and often pick bands that are more fresh than the same old act that will make tons of money.
