Chosen Song: Hey There Delilah

We came to the conclusion that our chosen 'Plain White T's' song was 'Hey There Delilah' we had many reasons for this choice for  it was  the Plain White T's first ever number 1 single in america and number 2 in the UK which implies that it is a popular song choice. From July 3rd, 2007 through July 28th, the song was the number one most played song on the radio, and the number one downloaded song on the U.S. iTunes Music Store, this suggests that people would want to watch our music video if they enjoyed the original one enough to make it to number 1.

Another reason we chose this song is because we have an advantage as one of our team members is a guitarist whom can play 'Hey There Delilah' this would look effective as charlies strumming on the guitar would be in sync with the strumming in the backing track. This will make it look realistic and effective and saves spending time searching for an actor to play the guitarist in the band.

What we liked about the song itself is that it follows the romance/love genre which we wanted to use from the beginning. This is always effective in music videos as it breaks the fourth wall allowing the audience to feel emotion. It is fairly easy to portray romance in a music video just by the use of props, location and acting. For instance cliche romantic locations would include, the beach, a restaurant, a park etc. By choosing a song with the genre of romance and love it meant that we could undertake allot of research and gain inspiration through existing music videos sharing the same genre.
