Research Into Logos

For our pitch we needed to create a band logo in which will represent the band and identify them from other bands. A logo is a symbol/small design which becomes the bands trademark sign and makes them individual from one another. As soon as you see the logo you would immediately know which band its related to. First we looked at some logos from famous rock bands as they are very iconic.

As you can see they contain allot of colour and graphics and adopt their own font style to be individual from one another. My favourite logo is the ACDC logo, as the lightning bolt separates the letters from one another and the font reflects the edgy and sharp effect of lighting. I like the outer flow of yellow which once again reflects the colour of lightning, and the white inner flow helps to create a small 3D effect.

I then decided to research and analyse band logos which follow the same genre as my chosen band:

Two Door Cinema Clubs logo uses one colour, this being black as it is a bold statement colour. Any letter which is rounded is used with a thinner black font to stand out and create an iconic look for if that element wasn't included it wouldn't have anything individual to it. The O's are much larger than they would be if they followed the same font style as the rest of the text. Using larger O's meant that 'Door' and 'Cinema' can sit parallel on top of each other and the O in 'Two' and the O in 'Door' are completely parallel with each other as well. The logo uses this thin text style on the 'C's' as well so that every word has an element of this in the text.

The Wombats logo is very quirky and uses a font that looks like a child's handwriting, this reflects the immature personalities and the quirkiness of there music. Once again black has been used as it is a bold colour that stands out against everything. The 'the' is much smaller than 'Wombats' and uses
mostly lowercase letters this is because 'Wombats'
is the most important part of the logo.Wombats is
also in capital letters so it stands out and is much

bolder than 'the.'

Cage The Elephants band logo uses the colour's black and white as they are completely contrasting to each other therefore help each other to stand out. The writing is wonky reflecting the strangeness of the music which breaks the boring conventional styles. The black background isn't solid black it has a chalk effect as if someone has coloured it in themselves. The background colour also only covers the logo and the text is all centered to the left. The style of writing looks like handwriting and the text has slits in it for the black background to come through which creates a scribble/chalk board effect.

Plain White T's don't have a particular logo for their band however this is one of their logos. They have used an italic style font as it is deemed romantic and soft just like their style of music. They have used a cerise outer and inner glow so that the base colour of white stands out. Using a
colour which is seen as more femenime shows that
they cater to all audiences. The use of a simple logo
reflects their name of 'Plain White T's' it is plain,
simple and also includes the colour white.
